Department of Foreign Nations Modern and Contemporary History originates from Department of General History, which was the only History department of St.Volodymyr Imperial University, founded in 1834.

Our students and alumni are our main assets.
The faculty teaches core and major specific courses in 17th -21st century’s history of Western Europe and the U.S., Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as international relations to History, Philosophy and Political Science students, directs their research projects, and encourages their professional development.

The department is well-known for its research work. Besides the faculty’s research activity, about forty Ph.D. dissertations focused on international relations, modern and contemporary history of European, American, Asian and African nations were defended there within last twenty years.

Traditions and innovations, strong academic staff and talented students define current Department of Foreign Nations’ Modern and Contemporary History.
